Only If I Knew

Here’s to love, here’s to betrayal
Broken promises have become a grail
Fake emotions and fake expressions
Fabricated and tailored confessions

Tricks so good, you can’t escape
Persuasion comes in every shape
You don’t know the truth behind
And they come and prank your mind

They break the boundaries you set
And very carefully spread the net
To catch your faultless pounding heart
To trap you with their unfailing art

Here’s to love, here’s to tears
The silent cries that no one hears
Masking helps but not for long
You start slipping and all goes wrong

Not every story ends with tears
Only if you brush off your fears
And stand amid the crowd
Breathing deep, feeling proud

Feeling proud that you survived
And could see the other side
To decipher the right from the wrong
Standing up and staying strong
